Could Ethnic-Cleansing, Land-Theft, Exceptionalism, Invasion and Occupation ever be Legitimate?

I would like to share with my readers a superb letter * from Anne Candlin which was sent to  Patrick Darnes (member of the Executive of the PSC), responding to his reply to her earlier letter in which she was urging PSC to give support to Southampton Conference .

An article about the attempts to get the Southampton University Law School to cancel their conference on Israel and International Law. It includes a short piece by Gilad Atzmon asking “why PSC has been silent?” and we might all ask why PSC has been silent on the issue of the legitimacy of Israel : this is the first time such a conference has been planned and it is long overdue. 67 years of campaigning have not prevented continuous war against the Palestinian people and the theft and destruction of their land. This week Netanyahu stated that if he is re-elected there will be no Palestinian State.So there we have it – he has finally admitted what we have long known – only the Jews of Israel have the right to the land and the Palestinians are expected to disappear, regardless of International Law or UN resolutions, regardless of common decency.
So PSC can forget their two-state solution. It never was “a solution”. Just for a joke, Netanyahu will get the tax-payers of the international community to pay for his continued policing, destruction and massacre of the Palestinian people.
So is this Conference not urgently needed? Should not the international community’s failure to enforce the Law be of primary concern to us?

Dear Patrick,

Thank you for your reply. We must be careful about describing Gilad’s query concerning PSC’s response to the conference as an “attack”. Gilad has neither attacked nor smeared PSC, but raised a question about a matter of some importance. He should not be marginalised for wishing to move Palestinian Support Campaigns towards a more useful analysis. PSC has contributed considerably to raising awareness about Palestine. However, all campaigns need to have ultimate aims and goals. What have been the aims and goals of PSC? Justice for the Palestinians? Palestinian Self-Determination? but how do a suppressed and imprisoned people achieve Justice or Self-Determination when their oppressor successfully defies every Law granting them Justice? how do the people of present-day Gaza achieve the elusive ideal of Self-Determination when they lack even the basic necessities of life such as freedom, control of their own finances, economy, water-supply, electricity, food, housing construction, personal movement, etc? does this not become a fanciful academic concept when applied to people bowed down with intolerable suffering while the world stands by?

So, we have to focus on the oppressor, and remove his power to behave vindictively to crush his fellow human-beings.
To remove his power we have first to ask: from whence does his power derive? first, from the illegal establishment of a state facilitated by people who had no right whatsoever to grant another’s land to him against the will of the inhabitants of that land; second, power has been enjoyed through the systematic exploitation of events in history, the details of which urgently need to be reviewed and re-interpreted and which actually occurred long after Zionist plans to take over Palestine; thirdly, his power derives from the external military, financial, religious, moral support and legal impunity given to that State. Has PSC made an honest analysis of all these areas?

It is patently obvious that Israel cannot and should not exist, nor continue to exist, as a Jewish State. It can only do so by existing outside the requirements of the Law and by unacceptable demographic and geographic manipulation which deprives Palestinians of their right to exist.Such a State threatens not only Palestinian rights, lives and land, but threatens the value of International and Human Rights Law and therefore the security of all people on the planet. If the international community allow Jews to get away with such behaviour, it means that, theoretically, anyone else can do the same. I have read PSC statements defending Israel’s “right to exist” but is PSC fully aware of the impossibility of this position? i.e/ the incompatibility between living within the requirements of the Law and maintaining a Jewish State.

Sympathy and encouragement could be given to those, like Gilad, who have explored these matters at a deeper level, questioning the nature and identity of Jewishness itself, questioning power and claims based on “race and ethnic identity”, questioning the use of such power to intimidate and undermine national and international institutions.

The Conference, one hopes, will raise some of these questions, and maybe help to re-direct the aims and goals of those bodies working to support Palestinians and help those working for the non-selective enforcement of International Law. None of my comments, or Gilad’s comments, are directed at threatening or smearing PSC, but rather helping to clarify goals so that we may all give more useful support to Palestinians.

Dear Anne,

Thank you so much for articulating what many of us feel. People have several times told me that Gilad should be shunned because he “divides” the PSC. My answer to that is that those who succumb to the division have to look inside their own hearts and minds for the reason. I am devoted to the Palestinians, to justice for them, not to the PSC. And as long as devotion to the Palestinians is what drives all of us – and I believe it is what drives Gilad too – how can we waste time on the present-day equivalent of how many angels can dance on the head of a pin?

Interesting discussion and thanks for sharing with me.. Patrick’s comment makes it clear that my criticism of the psc was well grounded.. We are dealing with a self centric institution ..how sad.. Needless to mention that by the time I published my criticism I didn’t find any support for the conference on psc official website.. If the psc is now moving in the right direction I ll be delighted to give it publicity..please advise me where I can find such a psc’s statement .

Following on from our three-way email exchange last week (between Anne, you, me), I would like to say how pleased I was to see the publication of the Statement in Support of the University of Southampton in PSC’s last Update.

 

All the same, it doesn’t totally make up for earlier disappointments. For instance, we all know about the Bishop of Guildford banning Rev Stephen Sizer from speaking or writing on the Middle East, yet I can find no record of this on the PSC website. This silence was all the more surprising, given that two years ago PSC publicised Michael Connarty’s speech in Stephen’s defence at a sitting of PACE. As late as 6 November 2014, the Weekly Update was still crediting Stephen for photographs used. I cannot believe that PSC now agrees with the charge that Stephen is “anti-Semitic”.

 

Earlier this month I copied to PSC some emails about the curator of James Morris’ “Time and Remains” photographic exhibition at Theatr Clwyd Cymru in Mold being subjected to Zionist intimidation, leading to the removal of the captions for most of the final week on the grounds that they were alleged to be “political”. Once again, I was disappointed that PSC did not report this.

 

Then there was the cancellation at two days’ notice of Gilad Atzmon’s concert at the RNCM scheduled for 5th March. In this case I suspect PSC had no objection anyway because it has itself declared Atzmon persona non grata – wrongly in the view of many. But is that sufficient reason not to put it on record that behind-the-scenes Zionist machinations have silenced an artist who in his own way struggles for justice for Palestine? It should have been possible to make it clear with an intelligently formulated statement that PSC opposes the principle of such intimidation.

 

Another example: On 7th March FoA were obliged to change the venue of their annual conference at short notice when Imperial College cancelled the event. It gave no reasons but the alleged statement by a spokesperson [“It’s not anything that any of the speakers has ever previously said, it’s what might be said at the conference”] leads one to suspect Zionist interference.

 

I know PSC has a lot on just now [when did it not?] and is working at full capacity. But would it not be possible in future to mention all such cases of known Zionist intimidation as they occur, in the Updates, however briefly, just Who, What, When?

 

It cannot be right that the groundswell of support for free speech in the wake of the tragedy in Paris should serve only one side and not the other. I know PSC is not able or even willing to enter into public disputes with the BoD, the Jewish Leadership Council, the CST and the many local FoIs. But what reason can there be for letting their activities go unnoticed and unrecorded in the Updates?

A comprehensive and truthful narrative of History, and of the present as it unrolls, would inevitably generate objectives and strategies so sharply focused and so clear, as to Liberate the Discourse, thereby creating the first steps to future success.

Applied to the Palestinian suffering, it appears that despite the fact that the horrific crimes committed against Palestinians and against their country are extremely well documented, Palestinians are struggling with little to no success since seven decades to stop the killing machine which took their land, ethnically cleansed them and continues to commit massacres generation after generation.

Palestinian Solidarity Movements have been active for decades, yet have failed to stop the genocide, and failed to save Palestinian land from being robbed and turned into Jewish only settlements, and failed to save the lives of tens of thousands who have been killed by the murderous Jewish collective that calls itself “Israel”, who continues the massacres worse than ever.

Having such comprehensive damning evidence to the crime, yet failing to stop its chronic corrosive continuation, and failing to bring one single criminal to face prosecution is mind boggling.

We really need to stop for a moment and ask ourselves this vital question:

Why this epic failure. Why, despite having evidence and documentation in such great number and such horrific nature, that it would easy to indict and to prosecute the perpetrators, and lock them behind bars forever, and yet they remain unpunished, Why?

Equipped with just a modicum of critical mind, a tiny scratch to the surface, would suffice to any person concerned with the defense of Palestinians’ Rights, to become aware of problematic issues which hinder the Palestinian discourse, weaken its potential and render it impotent.

My humble attempt to identify the causes resulted in the following:

Our movement has been infiltrated, manipulated and betrayed by steering it in a manner which would always PROTECT the perpetrators and their interest while chanting “we support Palestine”

Our movement has been framed with inbuilt elements of distractions, so that it would continue to criticise and pretend to fight the crimes committed against our people, without ever offending the occupiers let alone causing serious damage to their criminal entity or harm to their interest.

Four walls/ red lines have been drawn to our supporters, by hijackers and infiltrators, which keeps them running like hamsters in a mill, but never actually accomplishing anything.

Their purpose is to block intellectual discussion, obstruct rational and scholarly debate, filter vital information and serious research that examines four main issues which if freely examined would result in ultimate exposure then prosecution of perpetrators:

1) The problem of the Ideology of Jewish Supremacism

2) The problem of Global Jewish-Zionist Networking and Lobbying

3) The problem of idolizing the Holocaust (used as a tool to further Zionists aims)

4) The problem of the use of False Flag operations

a) Under the pretext of fighting racism and anti-Semitism, the hijackers aim to obfuscate and cover up any study or scrutiny of the ideological core of Jewish supremacy and racism.

b) Under the pretext of fighting racism and anti-Semitism the goal of the hijackers is to block and prevent serious investigation of global Jewish Zionist networks and organizations in their respective Jewish communities worldwide, and their vital role in supporting, defending and protecting the criminal Zionist entity.

c) Under the pretext of the uniqueness and exceptionality of Jewish suffering, they aim to justify the need of the perpetual existence of a “state for the Jews”, a “homeland for the Jewish people” in Palestine, an “Israel”, a “safe-haven” where the “eternally persecuted” Jews can finally call “home”, where they can exercise their “sovereign rights” to be a “nation”; be it as it may, an invented one, and be it as it may at the expense of another nation and the almost total extermination and dispossession of another people through wars of conquest and genocide. They call their omnibus solution, a Secular state for ALL its citizens. Hence preparing the ground for the soft, cultural, factual and permanent TAKE OVER of Palestine (early Zionists called that type of soft takeover, Cultural Zionism).

d) Under the pretext of avoiding “conspiracy theories”, we are forbidden from examining the role of FALSE FLAG operations, a specialty “perfected” by Mossad, and thus fail to identify real culprits and point our accusations at the wrong target.

e) Under the pretext of the uniqueness and exceptionality of Jewish suffering, our detractors want to impose on Palestinians to give up their rights to resist and defend themselves, they want Palestinians to abandon the idea of LIBERATION and reinstatement of their stolen land, and to impose on them the acceptance of sharing permanently their land with those who oppressed and dispossessed them for decades, those who have systematically violated, desecrated and destroyed the beloved land of Palestine.

How this works on the ground, on basis of a few case-study incidents that are quite revealing:

FIRST CASE

Some years ago, I was invited by a group of anti-Zionist Jewish “friends” to attend an alternative celebration of Seder.
About 40 people attended the event, all were Jews (Zionists and anti-Zionists) except myself and another Palestinian.

A few days after the event, I received the attached letter, sent to my home address, using my maiden name.

Having lost my beloved husband only four months prior to the incident (20/12/2005), and living alone with my children, I was concerned because of the threatening tone of the letter and because it came from a Zionist who apparently knew my address, so I went to the police.

The police took the matter seriously, because of the threat and racist nature of the letter, and decided to interview the entire group of people who attended the Seder event, as it is evident that the author of the letter was one of the guests.

The Jewish anti-Zionist group who invited me were mortified with the prospect of their guests being “offended” if interviewed by the police, they asked the police NOT to interview their guests and to leave it to them to ​”investigate​”​ and try to find out who is the person who threatened me and my kids.

Months passed by, during which they managed to put the police investigation on hold, while they kept evading, postponing and claiming they couldn’t find out who send the letter, until eventually, I gave up and dropped the case.

Many ​years later, while narrating the events to a friend of mine, I almost choked on my own words, as I realised the seriousness of what happened.

Evidently, this incident made it clear to me that the so called Jewish “friends” were more concerned about “offending” their Jewish guests than the serious risks to my life and my children’s lives!

This type of conflict of interest and disloyalty within the movement is what we have to deal with

SECOND CASE

In January last years, I wrote an article in which I suggested a bloodless peaceful solution, offering world Jewry (specially those who oppose the Jewish state), a way with the potential of solving the century-old injustice and end it peacefully, once and for all, without a drop of blood.

The proposed solution could have delivered Jewish-Zionists out of the mess they have created, and would have paved a way in which Jewish anti-Zionist supporters would have the golden opportunity to prove their loyalty to Palestinian cause.

They had the chance to prove their mantra, that world Jewry cannot be blamed for “Israel” or its crimes.

They had the chance to demonstrate through practical and meaningful ways their willingness to challenge their communities and put their weight against what is still a majority of Zionist Jews to create a paradigm shifts, by creating a NEW JEWISH FUND to raise the billions necessary to, at first buy the stolen and confiscated Palestinian property, and secondly transfer it back to the rightful Palestinian owners.

Jewish anti-Zionist supporters who join the pro-Palestinian groups in order to pacify Palestinians and to feed into the lie that “peace is possible” with an expansionist supremacist entity, and the delusion of “let us coexist” with a GENOCIDAL collective, are well advised to go to the camp of AGGRESSORS and Pacify their fellows.

If they are really sincere, they should LEAVE the Palestinians ALONE to LEAD their own struggle for Freedom and Liberation, go to the lion’s den and focus on how to DEFEAT the terrorist entity from within, (by working as eyes and ears FOR Palestinian resistance) and from outside (by sabotaging the global Jewish-Zionist network, which feeds the beast).

Rather than taking over pro-Palestinian groups and turning them into an ADL style organisations whose main objective is for fight “antisemitism” and to excommunicate those who question the primacy of Jewish suffering.

Instead of ostracising outspoken Palestinians, and silencing their voices which echo RESISTANCE and LIBERATION, they should take the beast by its horns and and challenge their own communities inside Palestine and across the globe.

Such a role not only it would prove their sincerity, accelerate the defeat of the beast but it’s also much more dignified for the preservation of their own honesty, morality and humanity.

​They must STOP DEFENDING “Israel’s rights”​, and instead, ​try to PACIFY their own PEOPLE whether those who occupy Palestine or their Jewish-Zionist international supporters.

Our future is NOT entangled with theirs, because they as a collective have caused the near destruction in an entire region of the world for almost a century in ever greater murderous genocidal criminality. Individually and collectively, Jewish “Israelis” are accountable for past and ongoing Crimes Against Humanity. Legally and Historically, they will have to bear the consequences. The “golden times” of warmongering, land theft and assassination of children will soon be over.

We need ACTION that brings CHANGE not just collecting donations or symbolic gestures which makes one feel good, while leaving us stagnating, like hamsters running till exhaustion in a treadmill only to stay where we are.

It is exactly like coming to help building a demolished house only for it to be re-demolished again and again and again and again; useless “action” of alleged “resistance” only to deplete our time, energy and resources and achieve NOTHING on the ground but the illusion of “victory”.

If they really want to help then be our guest, but go all the way and do the REAL STUFF to bring CHANGE.

The REAL STUFF is NOT a “Kum ba yah” song, oh let’s hug each other and lecture about “coexistence”, then miraculously fantasise that their bullets would molest our babies less aggressively, bombs would fall softer on our heads or our decades of excruciating pain of exile would suddenly taste sweeter.

We do NOT need to be “taught” how to be “humanists” with those who are tearing our bodies to pieces, poisoning our food and water, murdering our babies as we speak!

What we need is REAL ACTION of goodwill and sincerity that proves to us that they are genuinely sorry for what their fellows have done and willing to put things right, at whatever cost, i.e:

a) Total disengagement with the Zionist entity. Stop promoting the so called their “legitimate claims” and “rights of security”. Abandon the idea that such terrorist entity has any legal or “legitimate claims” or “rights”, and think of ways to stop the continuous illegitimate illegal flood of Jewish invaders who continue to pour into occupied Palestine.

b) Work within the International Legal system to help RETURN all STOLEN LAND and PROPERTY, help fund REPARATION, RESTORATION and COMPENSATION process and think of legal ways to facilitate the RETURN of ALL refugees.

c) Participate, collect information and help facilitate Law-suites against “Israeli” criminals whether soldiers, settlers or international collaborators, promoters and financiers.

d) Work within their own Jewish communities world wide to bring change in their SUPREMACIST attitude and criminal behaviour (for financial and moral support of criminals)

e) Work through legal avenues to REVOKE ISRAEL’S UN MEMBERSHIP. The racist genocidal occupation entity, which was in breach of UN Charters, which has violated and defied more UN resolutions and charter principles than any other. This illegitimate entity has no moral or legal ground whatsoever to be a member of the UN. Its membership is a disgrace on the face of humanity and a mockery of International Law. Israel’s UN membership should have never happened in the first place.

f) A little humility would go a long way: sit in the back seat when it comes to LEADERSHIP of pro-Palestinian organizations, listen to and echo the voices of Palestinians but do NOT hijack it, do NOT replace it with your own. LEAVE Palestinians ALONE to devise their OWN ASPIRATIONS, GOALS, VISION and STRATEGIES.

Our ultimate aim to Full Liberation of Palestine remains stronger than ever, and as it were this aim is aligned with utmost foundational aspects of International Law. Yet infiltrators, sayanim and other, are working day and night to delete LIBERATION from the consciousness of Palestinians and their supporters, by implanting their “doves” at the heart of our Palestinian activist movement, inside and outside of Palestine.

To contribute to the liberation of the discourse at first, our supporters may wish to expose the dirty trick consisting of limiting the choice to a false dichotomy, “one state, two state”. Palestinians and our supporters may wish to bring back on the table the concept of Full Liberation, as the only fair solution, and what is more the only long term feasible solution. We may want to be determined and forceful, by voicing Liberation amidst all circles of supporters, hammering it until it becomes again natural and evident, the way it is in reality.

Once supporters and public opinion start to listen to the Palestinians and their acute grievances due to a slow genocide committed against them, once supporters absorb the humanitarian concept of Liberation of Palestine, as a fair and necessary step to Peace and Prosperity in the Middle East and beyond, only then can Palestinians regain their faith in this western humanity who has abandoned and betrayed them.

Only then can Palestinians cease to succumb to the murdering machine aiming at pacifying them into obedient slaves.
Only then will solidarity groups cease to fall for the poisonous lies brought to them by the Hasbara agents who talk “peace” while their fellows plan more theft and more murder.

Reviving the concept of Liberation must be accompanied with all types of ​support possible, including education, spreading awareness, call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions,  humanitarian aid, financial support, and above all, defending the right of Palestinians to DEFEND themselves and explaining to supporters and others that Resistance under such chronic murderous and brutal occupation is not only a legitimate right, but also a duty.
