Shocking news
“In your religion… … …”
“Hey… hey… stop there
I don’t have a religion
I don’t believe in God
I am a secular… atheist”
“Oh… but you do dear
You do have a religion
When you accept as true something
Without any decisive evidence
You simply believe
Mathematically speaking
The chances are
Either there is a God
Or there isn’t
You can never prove that God does not exist
Nor can you ever negate the possibility of God’s existence
So, when you say
Definitely there is no God
I.e. the probability of God’s existence = 0
Scientifically that is inaccurate
False statement
As this can never be proven
In your case
Affirming that
‘There is no God’
Believing that God doesn’t exist
Without the ability -ever-
To produce any conclusive proof
Is called faith
Sorry dear… but…
If this is not religion
What is?

Thank you
So, let me get this straight:
You tear my veil to free me
You jail me to rid me of my terror
You kill my beloved to liberate me
You shoot my baby to erase my misery
You starve me to show me how to vote
You threaten me to bring me to my senses
You wage war on me to help me find peace
You slay my people to teach me compassion
You humiliate me to aid me live with dignity
You insult me to illustrate freedom of speech
You crush my bones to save me from my evil
You demolish my home to elevate my morality
You uproot my tree to raise my ethical standard
You steal my resources to bring me social justice
You assassinate my leaders to train me into democracy
You bomb my town to bring me security
You destroy my history to educate me about progress
You dehumanise me to coach me into humanity
You wipe me out to push me to civilisation
Thank you sir
How can I -ever- pay you back?

Stone the terrorist
No one knows my real name
No one cared to ask
An alien entity… with lost identity
To some I’m the manifestation
Of the horror of the newspapers
The wicked one
Plotting with the axis of evil
To others I’m the one
Who ascended from the past’s graveyard
To drag humanity to the age
Of ignorance and darkness
In the eighties I was Khomeini
Then I became Qaddafi
In the nineties I was Saddam Hussein
Then I became Ben laden
Today I am Nasrullah… tomorrow who knows
But no one knows my real name
No one cared to ask
I am the suspect… the accused
The criminal… the illegal
The immoral… the uncivilised
The brainless…. the terrorist
The peace hater… the freedom loather
The democracy rejecter
To eliminate me is an honourable deed
For I am the human with no humanity
My crime is…
Being
My sin is…
Believing
Do you know who am I?
I am a Palestinian Muslim
With a hijab on

Snakes and ladders
All of a sudden
The game starts
With a peculiar 2D cube in your hand
You begin at a precise point
Of time and space
You toss your magical dice
That only has two sides
A “good” and a “bad”
What is more bizarre about this gamble
Is that you are in charge
You choose what side it lands on
You desire the “good”
An up the ladder you go
One step… two steps
Three or may be four
You prefer the “bad”
The snake appears
And down you slide
One step… two steps
Three or may be four
You are constantly playing
And time is running fast
If you want to finish the game
And reach your destination
You’ve got to play it right
Otherwise
Before you know it
Your time will be over
Without ever arriving
And that is sad

Beyond the veil
My modest dress that you see
As a sign of oppression
Is for me the symbol of ultimate liberation
It urges you to look beyond the veil
To peel the skin
To peep through the physical
The limited… the confined
Straight into the essence
The infinite … the boundless
It’s a glaring statement
I am more than just a body
I am a mind… a heart… and a soul
Don’t just stop there
At the door… come in
Get to know me
For what I really am
It gives me contentment
And great satisfaction
With my femininity
It gives me dignity
As I refuse to be portrayed
As a sex object
It gives me freedom
To choose my dress
Not only wearing what men desire
It gives me privacy and protection
From all undesired attention
For my intimacy I only share
With the one I love
Does that make any sense to you?

About Chains
How strange are chains
They remind me of many things!
Of slavery, of captivity
Lack of freedom
Injustice, inequality
And oppression
Yet, they remind me of unity as well
Of extending hands
Reaching out
Hand in hand, connecting
And the strength of togetherness
The paradox of chains is…
The paradox of life!
