My First Letter

My first letter

 Image

During the 1967 war, I was only seven when we were forced to leave Palestine in search of safety, thinking that it’s only a matter of weeks before we could go back home. We were denied that right ever since.

As a refugee in Jordan I wrote this letter to my auntie who stayed behind in Palestine.  However, she never received it.  When I saw her 37 years later, I read the letter to her face to face.

Dearest Auntie Intisar,

I have been waiting

For many, many days

Many, many weeks

To come back home

And see you

Give you a big hug

I miss you so

I miss my bedtime stories

You used to tell me

Ali Baba, wishater Hassan

I miss your warm and gentle hand

Stroking through my hair

Till I fall asleep

I tried to come with my mum

And cross the boarders

Many times

“They” wouldn’t let us through

Had I known

This is what they’d do

I would never ever have left Palestine

But don’t worry auntie

Because I have a plan

When I grow up

I’ll go to university

I’ll study magic

 Become a fairy

Then I’ll turn all the soldiers into little ants

Harmless, tiny and peaceful

They’ll go away

And Leave us alone

We’ll cross the boarders

And be together again

In our homeland

Palestine

Love, hugs and kisses

Your niece

Nahida

A PALESTINIAN QUOTE

لدراسات الاسرى

Don’t call me a Palestinian of the Palestinian Territories because it is called Palestine.

Don’t give me a fraction of my homeland and call it a solution.

Don’t give me oppression and call it peace.

Don’t give me a Bantustan and call it a home.

Don’t give me a prison and call it freedom.

Don’t draw the borders of my existence according to your whims and interests and call it a state.

My home is not a disfigured result of a till-death-do-us-part-marriage between the occupier and the champions of negotiators-for-life that yields a Bantustan on 20% of my homeland.

My home is not a “lets legitimize the Zionist racist colonization of Palestine and hope they accept us and allow us to live with them one day” tale for the sake of fame and a shoulder pat from “conditional-supporters”, while giving the Zionist usurpers a right to my land which they stole and continue to colonize… a right to my home which they destroyed and continue to destroy…. a right to my village which they ethnically cleansed and continue to do so to the rest of Palestine… a right to Palestine, the Palestine they raped and continue to rape for over 63 years, a rape they are proud of and celebrate very year while denying us even the tears and the memories and the names of the victims they massacred and the villages they erased.

My Palestine is the home that is mine since the dawn of history till the end of history.

My Palestine is the home of my ancestors, the home between the Mediterranean and the Jordan River.

.

PALESTINE: Now What?

We’ve just witnessed the warm embrace given to Palestine by the entire
decent world, excluding of courses those who chose the side of evil,
throwing themselves in an obscene disgrace, slaves at the feet of the
“chosen”.

Such memorable event might not change much on the ground, however, one cannot dismiss its huge significance, that event is a signal indicating shifting of power worldwide.

WORLD GET READY

Palestinians did not give up before, and they have no intention to give up now. They will continue to pursue the course of JUSTICE and LIBERATION by ALL MEANS they deem necessary and appropriate.

  • FULL LIBERATION of Historic Palestine. The Holy Land must be free from atrocities committing racists. A way must be found, to bring reason to the Holy Land, and there is no other way than to evict foreign criminals.
  •  FULL SOVEREIGNTY of the Palestinian Nation over their ancestral country: Palestine, with a constitution and a political system of their own independent choice. For the sake of International Peace and Security.
  • PROSECUTION OF WAR CRIMINALS, plans of which should start immediately without delay, A Palestinian JUDICIARY and IMMIGRATION System, will respectively prosecute former “Israeli” criminals and their associates, and/or grant or decline on an individual basis, a Right to Remain, based on criteria solely to be defined by said Immigration and Integration Services.
  • NATIONALISATION AND PALESTINIAN CITIZENSHIP, anyone who can prove non-participation in the ex-Israeli occupation apparatus, and who has demonstrated ability and willingness to a respectable and law-abiding conduct, will probably obtain a chance to gain unrestricted Palestinian citizenship, with equal rights.
  • RETURN, RESTITUTION and COMPENSATIONS: Palestine and the Palestinian Nation at large, are entitled to full and unconditional Restitution of their land and property whenever possible, assorted with appropriate Compensation for more than seven decades of deprivation and slow genocide, Cultural destruction, and a whole array of atrocities and usurpation..
  •  REVOKING ISRAEL’S UN MEMBERSHIP. The racist genocidal occupation entity, which was in breach of UN Charters, which has violated and defied more UN resolutions and charter principles than any other. This illegitimate entity has no moral or legal ground whatsoever to be a member of the UN. Its membership is a disgrace on the face of humanity and a mockery of International Law. Israel’s
UN membership should have never happened in the first place.

When Genocide is condoned

Kiss your blessed hands

And sprinkle your beautiful faces

Utterly helpless

Talking much and doing little

Going round and round in circles

Thinking how to help

What to offer you to relief some of your pain

As usual

Full of surprises

You come out to our rescue

Soothe our agony

Not even to superpowers

Would we ever learn from you?

In Palestine, Something Miraculous Happens

By Nahida- Exiled Palestinian

In Palestine

Terror reigns
Psychopaths claim dominance
and a “G-d given right to rob, kill and maim

In Palestine
Terror reigns

Smiles … wiped of innocent faces
 Little girls weep
Little boys butchered
Babies are slain
In Palestine
Terror reigns
Criminals are the law
They bomb, they shoot, they smite
With mini-nukes they wipe life out
In Palestine
Terror reigns
Without “lamp-shades”, bodies mutilated
Without “cremationovens”, toddlers charcoaled

Without “gas-chambers”, Tiny tots… exterminated
In Palestine
Terror reigns
Aggressors crowned with victim-hood”
Their victims… “anti-Semites”, “filled with hate” !
They murder then cry
Sneer as they lie
They twist and deceive, innocence they proclaim
Apart from themselves, Everyone to blame

In Palestine

Primary colours no longer three
Red and green, black and white
Freedom painted red… Love is green
Sacrifice and faith black and white
In Palestine
Out of the ashes humanity rises tall
 Resilience leaves you you speechless
Courage takes your breath away

and in contrast

Bottomless cowardice

As never seen before

In Palestine
Something miraculous happens
 The more people die
The more hope is born!
Hope… Astounding
 Bequest of the Divine

Seen in every face
Written with every name

Gaza Speaks

LOOK AT ME

I would love to write poetry about love,

Paint rainbows and butterflies,

Roll in a meadow

Enchanted with rosebud scent

Run down the hills with open arms

Embrace the Earth

Inhale the Sky

But… How can I?
How can I?
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is screenshot-2022-03-15-at-10.15.05.png

I would love to to dance for love,

Spin with jubilant nightingales

Swept off my feet

Twirl and sway

Besotted, entranced

As I sing a lullaby

I would love to fly

Roam the cosmos before I die

* * *

But how can I?

How can I?

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is screenshot-2022-03-15-at-10.15.09.png

I would love to sing for love

Flung open the gates of my soul

Invite the world in

Tuck it all under my wings

Rock back and forth

Caress its wounds

Whisper “I love you” in its ear

See it heal

Before my eyes

* * *

But how can I?

How can I?

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is screenshot-2022-03-15-at-10.15.14.png

I would love to close my eyes and see children smiling

Tell them stories of lily-like fairies in faraway lands

No guns pointing at their heads

Not of bullets shrieking or missiles exploding

No blood, no tears, no prison bars, no sighs

But

How can I?

How can I?

How can I?

How can I?

There is a dagger in my heart

I am hurting

Hurting

I bleed

I cringe

I cry

HUMANITY, WHERE ARE YOU?

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is screenshot-2022-03-15-at-10.15.19.png

I am being slaughtered

Under your watchful eyes

I am cold… cold…. cold

I cringe

I cry

Humanity, where are you?

Why do you turn your face away?

Why do you keep looking the other way?

I am here

Languishing

In Palestine alleyways

Humanity, where are you?

Look at me

See me

I am here

Sighing

Fading away

In Gaza’s alleyways

I cringe

I cry

Humanity,

Enough turning the other way !

Turning a deaf ear

Turning a blind eye

While I,

and oh ! My poor children

Die

A lioness of Palestine !

Fearsome and Awesome

Look at you… My beloved

Look at you

This little fist of yours

Slams before the world

The final word

This little fist of yours

Says it all

RIGHT is GREATER than MIGHT

The sparkle in your eyes

BLAZING FIRE

Burns deep

Renders them to ashes;

Soulless shadows

Void of life

Void of love

Void of heart

Remnants of human beings

They wither away

Before your magnificence

They bow down

Lost… Defeated… Humiliated…

Drenched in shame

Humanity you embody

Dignity you teach

Wonders you inspire

Tall you stand, my sweetheart

Tall you stand

What mother of glory gave birth to you

O great daughter of Palestine

Your Tears

Your Pain

Your sacrifice

A Wake Up call

To a sleepy world

A zombie world

A beaten world

Who forgot what it means to be alive

Lift your fist

Shake your wrist

Move the world

Beloved daughter of Palestine

Hear her ROAR…World

Hear her roar

Hold her heart

Kiss her feet

Hear her roar

Be filled with Awe

This is My Palestine
